Two educational posters featuring a collage of various plankton taxa discovered in the Oslofjord, Norway. The photographs were taken in 2023 close to the Biological Station “Biologen” (Drøbak, University of Oslo). The darkfield images were captured using a CPICS underwater microscope, while the lightfield images were obtained using a Planktoscope.

The Mineralization of Plankton
Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1953The rate and the thoroughness of the decomposition of plankton remains are important factors in the cycles of some nutrients in lakes. Experimental data on the mineralization of plankton in vitro are available, especially of marine organisms, but quantitative observations on this process in nature are not mentioned in the literature.
