Statistical Techniques for Manpower Planning.
The Statistician, 1979The Second Edition continues to provide a sound basis of technical knowledge for the manpower planning professional. Basic theory is sufficiently covered but the aim is to provide tools for practical use. The presentation reflects recent developments in the wider use of microcomputers and includes new material on continuous time methods, the data needs

Search control techniques for planning
Proceedings. 15th IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence, 2004Significant advances have been made in heuristic search for classical planning in the last six years. Most of these planners use A* style search. We report on two sound and complete domain-independent classical planners AWA* (adjusted weighted A*) and MAWA* (modified AWA*) in this paper.

A planning and design technique
Proceedings of the eighth international conference on APL - APL '76, 1976The task of developing hierarchical (series-parallel) networks can become formidable even with only a few dozen elements. This article describes a computer aided, interactive technique to structure such networks. The concept is based in part on graph theoretic methods.

A General Technique for Plan Repair
2008 20th IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence, 2008In real world we have to deal with changing situations which may partially or entirely invalidate an executable plan. Current strategies for plan repair are basically aimed at solving problems where regular minor modifications in the initial or goal state occur in the plan.

A planning technique for segmental osteotomies
British Journal of Oral Surgery, 1974WHEN assessing the feasibility of a segmental osteotomy a planning system is required which will demonstrate changes in position of model segments. The volume of tissue to be removed or inserted to accommodate the segement in its new position should be quantified.

Motion planning of mobile robots can be done by a variety of mechanisms, which makes it a very interesting field of work. In this chapter, the authors discuss some of the commonly used techniques that resemble or closely follow the graph-based search techniques discussed in chapter 2.

Observing Plans and Techniques
2010Having a plan or an idea as to what you wish to observe can save you a lot of time fiddling around in the dark. By looking at a star chart or computer software one can devise one’s own observing program for an evening’s viewing. Alternatively, there are a number of books available that contain suggested sky tours and interesting observing programs ...
