This study focussed on an Oligocene volcano‐sedimentary sequence on the periphery of the Doupovské Hory Volcanic Complex, showing the complexity of depositional processes in this setting. The weathering of mafic alkaline rocks provided reactants for carbonate precipitation in perivolcanic palaeolakes.
