Gut Microbial Release of Ferulic Acid From Germinated Quinoa Alleviates Obesity‐Associated Cognitive Impairment by Activating Hippocampal Mitophagy Associated with PINK1/Parkin Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liberation of ferulic acid by gut microbial feruloyl esterase mediates cognitive enhancement of germinated quinoa (GQF) on obese mice. Ferulic acid enriched in GQF is released by gut microbes Roseburia hominis and R. intestinalis and subsequently mediates the neuroprotective effects of GQF on obesity‐induced cognitive decline by activating hippocampal ...

SPSB1 Promotes Subcutaneous Adipose Hyperplasia in Facial Port‐Wine Stains by Controlling HDAC1 Degradation and Stability Through Two Distinct Proteolytic Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In PWS‐ASPCs, FOSL1 drives the expression of SPSB1. SPSB1, as part of the ESC complex, further binds to HDAC1 and promotes K29‐linked and K48‐linked polyubiquitination of HDAC1. These modifications facilitate the degradation of HDAC1 through the ALP and UPS pathways, respectively.

The Association Between Plant-Based Diet and Gallstone Disease: A Case-Control Study

open access: yes
BACKGROUND: Recent studies have emphasized the role of plant-based diets in reducing the risk of gallstone disease (GD) by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. This study aimed to investigate the association between plant-based diet indices and GD

Does partial replacement of animal protein with plant protein in the diet affect components of metabolic syndrome, adropin levels, and the atherogenic index of plasma? Results from a parallel randomized clinical trial in adults with metabolic syndrome

open access: yesNutrition & Diabetes
Background Few studies evaluated the effect of different proportions of dietary plant- and animal-based protein on metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its related biomarkers.

Plant-based dietary index and body weight in people with type 1 diabetes: a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
ObjectiveThis secondary analysis tested the relationship of a plant-based diet index (PDI), healthful PDI (hPDI), and unhealthful PDI (uPDI), with weight loss in adults with type 1 diabetes.MethodsFifty-eight adults with type 1 diabetes were randomized ...

ANGPTL4 Exacerbates Renal Injury in Diabetic Kidney Disease by Impairing Podocyte Lipophagy via Compromised Lysosomal Degradative Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In diabetic kidney disease, elevated podocyte ANGPTL4 is linked to reduced TFEB nuclear localization and compromised lysosomal degradative function. These changes impair podocyte lipophagy and promote lipid‐droplet accumulation and podocyte injury, which may contribute to renal injury progression.

Nutritional Adequacy of the Mediterranean Diet

open access: yes, 2015
The Mediterranean dietary pattern (MDP) encapsulates a beneficial fatty acid profile with high monounsaturated fatty acids content, a low proportion of carbohydrate, and high intake of dietary fiber and antioxidant compounds that work together to produce

Gut‐Liver Translocation of Bacteroides Uniformis Alleviates Advanced Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease by Suppressing Hepatocyte Ferroptosis via Propionic Acid Secretion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Systematic characterization of the liver‐resident microbiota in advanced metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) reveals a consistent depletion of Bacteroides uniformis (B. uniformis) in both hepatic and gut microbial communities. Oral gavage of B.

Systematic Multi‐Level Analyses Decode the Arthritis‐Neurodegeneration Axis With In Vivo Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Arthritis and neurodegeneration are usually studied as separate disorders, but this study connects them through population evidence, genetic inference, transcriptomic mapping, and mouse models. It highlights RNF40 as a context‐dependent joint‐brain candidate, induced in inflammatory joints yet functionally linked to dopamine‐neuron vulnerability ...

GM‐CSF Promotes Neutrophil PD‐L1 Expression Through the VEGFR‐2/STAT6/CSF2 Signaling Axis in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
VEGFR‐2 signaling in OSCC activates Src–STAT6‐dependent CSF2 transcription, driving tumor‐derived GM‐CSF secretion. GM‐CSF programs neutrophils to express PD‐L1 through STAT5–mTOR/S6K signaling, suppressing cytotoxic CD8+ T cells. This pathway reveals a tumor–neutrophil immune checkpoint circuit that limits anti‐PD‐1 responsiveness in OSCC.
