Control of an Extractive Distillation Plant

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1986
A new separation scheme for extractive distillation which uses a vapor sidestream is presented together with an appropriate control system. Starting with a simplified model of the dynamic behaviour, the influence of the level control loops is investigated and a multivariable control system is developed using state space methods.

Encapsulation of Plant Extracts

2022
Food technology has adopted new principles and practices that are rapidly changing the food sector. New foods are now available under more uniform standards and better quality control. Globalised food market offers opportunities for manufacturers to increase production and profit, and at the same time, consumers benefit from the choice of food products

Extraction of Plant Secondary Metabolites

2006
This chapter presents an overview of the preparation of extracts from plants using organic solvents, with emphasis on common problems encountered and methods for their reduction or elimination. In addition to generally applicable extraction protocols, methods are suggested for selectively extracting specific classes of plant-derived compounds, and ...

Antioxidative plant extracts for chemoprevention

Archives of Toxicology, 2013
model certainly demonstrates a strong antioxidative activity. However, it remains to be shown whether efficiency under such drastic conditions will also be protective under the much milder conditions seem in human liver diseases (Godoy et2013 al. ). Similar to the liver, several in vivo studies have demonstrated antioxida-tive effects in the central ...

Effect of Plant Extracts on Blood Sugar

Nature, 1923
OUR studies in connexion with insulin led us to the conception that carbohydrate metabolism is performed by an oxidising ferment mechanism. This theoretical conception induced us to test vegetable material, known to contain oxidases and peroxidases, for oxidising substances having an insulin-like action. In December 1922 we injected 5 c.c.

Extraction of RNA from Plants

2003
Current research into the structure and function of plant genes involves the application of many elaborate techniques for gene cloning and analysis. The isolation of pure, intact plant mRNA is required at many stages in this process, e.g., for generation and screening of cDNA clones, for characterization and mapping of cloned genes, and for the study ...

From plants to extracts

Through years, medicinal plants have always been used, but during the last century, their importance has increasingly grown. It should be emphasized that plants produce different substances, primary metabolites with the aim of helping life's cells and secondary metabolites, also known as phytochemicals, which have biological effects.
