Important Factors Controlling Gibberellin Homeostasis in Plant Height Regulation

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2023
Plant height is an important agronomic trait that is closely associated with crop yield and quality. Gibberellins (GAs), a class of highly efficient plant growth regulators, play key roles in regulating plant height. Increasing reports indicate that transcriptional regulation is a major point of regulation of the GA pathways.

PLANT HEIGHT FORMATION IN DIFFERENT CULTIVARS OF KALANCHOE

Acta Horticulturae, 2005
The control of plant height is of great importance in pot plant production. In the present work, data from greenhouse experiments and from a grower were used to evaluate plant height in several kalanchoe cultivars and to study the seasonal pattern in plant height.

Genetic analysis of plant height in wheat

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1974
Genetic studies of plant height were made of 8 wheats and the 28 crosses between them using the diallel method of analysis. The inheritance of plant height in a glasshouse-grown F1 diallel set in which vernalization and photoperiodic responses had been removed, indicated close to complete dominance in its expression.

Control of Plant Height

2000
Control of plant height is important for agriculture, because plant height determines the mechanical stability of many crop plants. Resistance to wind, logging resistance, efficiency of light usage, microclimate, but also the partitioning of biomass from vegetative to reproductive structures are traits that depend directly or indirectly on plant height.

Suppressive effect of microRNA319 expression on rice plant height

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2017
KEY MESSAGE: miR319 was identified as a dwarf-inducing gene from Shiokari and its dwarf near isogenic line, and its transgenic rice showed a reduced plant height. This finding reveals the potential application of miR319 in future molecular breeding.

Gibberellin in plant height control: old player, new story

Plant Cell Reports, 2017
Height relates to plant architecture, lodging resistance, and yield performance. Growth-promoting phytohormones gibberellins (GAs) play a pivotal role in plant height control. Mutations in GA biosynthesis, metabolism, and signaling cascades influence plant height. Moreover, GA interacts with other phytohormones in the modulation of plant height.

Does plant height determine the freezing resistance in the páramo plants?

Austral Ecology, 2010
AbstractNeotropical ecosystems between treeline and snowline, called páramos, stretch along Andean ranges from Costa Rica to northern Peru. The páramo climate is characterized by regular night frosts occurring throughout the year. Páramo plants use two strategies to deal with freezing temperatures.

Vegetative Plant Height QTLs in Elite Perennial Ryegrass Material

2010
Leaf length in perennial ryegrass meadows is a limiting factor for feeding grazing cows. In spite of the phenotypic selection efficiency to improve this trait, synthetic varieties hamper fixing favourable alleles. Our aim was to detect QTLs of vegetative plant height which is highly correlated to leaf length in order to start Molecular Assisted ...

Variation in Early Plant Height in Wild Soybean

Crop Science, 2006
It is difficult to evaluate plant height at maturity in wild soybean (Glycine soja Sieb. & Zucc.) and no research about plant height at early growth stages has been reported. The objective of this study was to identify variation for plant height at early growth stages in wild soybean accessions.
