Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

The rhizosphere: a playground and battlefield for soilborne pathogens and beneficial microorganisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The rhizosphere is a hot spot of microbial interactions as exudates released by plant roots are a main food source for microorganisms and a driving force of their population density and activities.

Early Morphological Growth Response and Incidence of Key Pests Under Two Spacing Regimes of Coffea canephora

open access: yesCoffee and Cocoa Research Journal, 2021
Coffea canephora has non-limiting but unexploited yield and quality potential when compared with C. arabica. Coffee tree density optimization can improve fortunes of smallholder farmers.

Corn Plant Population

open access: yes, 2010
Producers continue to plant corn at higher plant populations each year. Seeding rates have increased about 425 seeds per acre per year since 2001 in Iowa. The ability of today’s hybrids to manage this extra plant-to-plant competition has been a catalyst for higher yields. During this same time, seed costs have risen dramatically.

Survival Outcomes and Complications Among Canadian Children With Retinoblastoma: A Population‐Based Report From CYP‐C

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common pediatric ocular cancer, yet population‐based data on survival and risk factors remain limited. This study aimed to describe survival in a large national RB cohort and identify predictors of death and complications.
