Identification and characterization of structural proteins of orchid fleck virus [PDF]
Orchid fleck virus (OFV) has a bipartite negative-sense RNA genome with sequence similarities to plant rhabdoviruses. The non-enveloped bullet-shaped particles of OFV are similar to those of the internal ribonucleoprotein (RNP)-M protein structure of ...

ABSTRACT Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) is a contagious pathogen associated with significant mortality and economic losses in freshwater aquaculture. Although reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT‐qPCR) enables rapid detection, it does not distinguish between infectious and non‐infectious viral particles, which may lead to overestimation of ...

Pest categorisation of Citrus leprosis viruses [PDF]
The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of the Citrus leprosis viruses for theEU territory and identifiedfive distinct viruses,Citrus leprosis virus C(CiLV-C),Citrus leprosis virus C2(CiLV-C2),Hibiscus green spot virus 2 ...

Abstract Understanding the frequency and socio‐ecological drivers of contacts between humans and non‐human primates (NHPs) is crucial for enhancing coexistence that favours NHP conservation, while limiting negative consequences such as aggressions and cross‐species disease transmission.

Viral delivery of dsRNA for control of insect agricultural pests and vectors of human disease : prospects and challenges [PDF]
RNAi is applied as a new and safe method for pest control in agriculture but efficiency and specificity of delivery of dsRNA trigger remains a critical issue. Various agents have been proposed to augment dsRNA delivery, such as engineered micro-organisms

Mathematical Modeling of the Role of Cytokines in Sindbis Virus Treatment of Glioblastoma
ABSTRACT Oncolytic viruses, specifically Sindbis virus (SINV), combined with cytokines show promising results in slowing glioma progression, but a quantitative understanding of their effects remains limited. In this study, we use an ordinary differential equation (ODE) model to examine the effect of adding cytokines to oncolytic SINV therapy.

VHSV and IHNV molecular detection in environmental samples was tested in controlled infection trials. We show that, in water, detected viral eRNA copies correlate with infectious particle numbers. After comparison of viral concentration methods from water, we demonstrate the feasibility of filter‐based eRNA detection in IHNV‐positive aquaculture farms.

Plant rhabdoviruses with bipartite genomes
Members of the family Rhabdoviridae (order Mononegavirales) have a broad range of hosts, including humans, livestock, fish, plants, and invertebrates. They have a nonsegmented negative-sense RNA as the genome. Orchid fleck virus (OFV) is distributed world-wide on several orchid plants and transmitted by the false spider mite, Brevipalpus californicus ...
