Adaptive Responses of Tropical Crops: A Multi‐Scale Omics Integrated Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tropical crops integrate genomic, morphological, physiological, and ecological adaptations to thrive under extreme and variable environments. This review highlights how natural selection, domestication, and breeding shape stress resilience, resource‐use strategies, and productivity in sugarcane, banana, cassava, rubber and oil palm, offering new routes

Decreasing Transpiration of Field Plants by Chemical Closure of Stomata

open access: yesNature, 1964
CHEMICALS which close stomata have been described by Zelitch1. When sprayed on leaf surfaces, the compounds decrease transpiration and photosynthesis of detached leaves2 and of maize plants in soil3 by increasing the diffusion resistance of stomata.

Interference of ATP‐Binding Cassette Transporter by Functional Nano‐Delivery System for High Efficiency Management of Insecticide‐Resistant Nilaparvata lugens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ZIF‐90 nanocarrier delivers dinotefuran and suppresses NlABCG3 and NlABCH1 in resistant Nilaparvata lugens. This system combines pH/ATP‐triggered release with enhanced foliar retention, improving efficacy while sparing honeybees and promoting rice growth, offering a promising resistance‐breaking strategy.

Microscope image based fully automated stomata detection and pore measurement method for grapevines

open access: yesPlant Methods, 2017
Background Stomatal behavior in grapevines has been identified as a good indicator of the water stress level and overall health of the plant. Microscope images are often used to analyze stomatal behavior in plants. However, most of the current approaches

The BTB/POZ‐MATH Protein ZmBPM1 Interacts With Autophagy‐related Protein ZmATG6 and Modulates the NLR Protein Rp1‐D21‐Mediated Defense Response in Maize

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The maize BTB/POZ‐MATH (BPM) protein ZmBPM1 interacts with autophagy‐related protein ZmATG6 to relocate the NLR protein Rp1‐D21 from the nucleo‐cytoplasmic compartment into autophagosome‐like puncta, leading to autophagy‐mediated turnover and suppressing the hypersensitive response.

Heavy Metal Contamination: Impacts From Plants to the Food Chain and Eco‐Friendly Amelioration Strategies

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Heavy metal pollution reduces soil health and threatens food safety by entering plants; however, the use of nanoparticles, biofertilizers, and organic fertilizers such as biochar offers a promising strategy for improvement and sustainable agriculture. ABSTRACT Heavy metal (HM) pollution, resulting from human activities such as mining and the excessive ...

Diversity in Stomata Morphology among Cultivated Blueberry Genotypes and Its Influence on Irradiance Response Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science
Stomata are pores on the leaf epidermis that control gas exchange between leaves and the atmosphere. Stomata differ in shape, size, and number among and within plant species. Stomata morphology has physiological consequences for some plant species.

Impact of Postoperative Infectious Complications on Long‐Term Survival After Curative Resection for Colorectal Cancer: A Multicenter Study in the Minimally Invasive Era

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Postoperative infectious complications (PICs) have been associated with poor long‐term outcomes after colorectal cancer surgery, but evidence in the modern minimally invasive era remains limited. In this multicenter cohort of 5377 patients undergoing curative resection, PICs were independently associated with worse overall survival and relapse‐free ...
