Distribution and Density of Vegetative Hydrilla Propagules in the Sediments of Two New Zealand Lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The distribution and density of hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.)Royle) turions and tubers in two New Zealand lakes were assessed by sampling cores of sediment from Lakes Tutira and Waikapiro each year from 1994 to 1997.

A study of tuberization in the potato plant. : V. A relation of the mother tuber to the plant growth and tuberization with plant growth.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1951
Seed tuber in the potato plant relates very greatly in its growth and yield. Here the author observed a periodical relation of mother tuber to plant growth and tuberization. The experiments were carried out during 1947, 1948 and 1949 years. The results observed are as follows. 1.

The coelurosaur theropods of the Romualdo formation, early Cretaceous (Aptian) of Brazil: Santanaraptor placidus meets Mirischia asymmetrica

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The upper carbonate concretion levels of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian, Brazil) have yielded several theropod dinosaur remains, including spinosaurids and the coelurosaurs Santanaraptor placidus and Mirischia asymmetrica, the phylogenetic affinities of which are controversial.

Innovative technologies for accelerated reproduction of initial seed material from in vitro micro plants on the biotechnological module AGM-60 [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
A biotechnological aerohydroponic module has been created for growing plants without using soil by creating a water-air nutrient medium in the root space, and a method has been developed for accelerated propagation and mass replication of improved potato

Effects of Seed Tuber Size and Planting Density on the Tuber Number and the Individual Tuber Weight of Plants Grown from Potato Microtubers in Fields

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 2011

Neuroanatomical diversity in Teleocichla with new volumetric and histological insights into the encephalon of Teleocichla monogramma Kullander 1988

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Teleocichla comprises small cichlids that inhabit the rapid streams of Amazonian rivers; however, there has been limited research on their encephalon morphology. This study examined the neuroanatomy of four species, focusing on volumetric measurements of their encephalon subregions, and providing a histological description of the encephalon of

Thermal sum of potato plants and tuber sprouting [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2017
ABSTRACT: This study aimed to determine the thermal sum of the different stages of development of potato plants to better understand its relationship with tuber sprouting. The potato clones SMIJ461-1, SMINIA793101-3 and SMINIA97145-2 and the cultivar Macaca were evaluated in spring and autumn crop seasons in Santa Maria and Julio de Castilhos, RS ...

Descriptive, comparative, and functional anatomy of the facial musculature in cattle (Bos taurus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Facial expressions can provide insight into animal emotions and pain, but no standardized system for assessing the entire facial display in cattle (Bos taurus Linnaeus) exists. The Facial Action Coding System (FACS), originally developed for humans, identifies distinct facial movements based on mimetic muscles.

Differences in predominant collagen fiber orientation between dorsal and plantar trabecular bone tracts of adult mule deer calcanei suggest strain‐mode‐specific adaptation

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Polarized microscopic images of the outer bone cortex (a and b) and deeper trabecular bone (c and d) of the deer calcaneus in thin cross‐sections. The brighter gray levels reflect more oblique‐to‐transverse collagen fibers in the compression/dorsal bone (a, c) and the darker gray levels reflect more longitudinal collagen in the tension/plantar bone (b,
