Plant Tissue Parenchyma and Vascular Bundles Selectively Regulate Stem Cell Mechanosensing and Differentiation

Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering, 2022
Plant tissues are plentiful, diverse, and due to convergent evolution are structurally similar to many animal tissues. Decellularized plant tissues feature microtopographies that resemble cancellous bone (porous parenchyma) and skeletal muscle (fibrous vascular bundles).

Tomato prosystemin promoter confers wound-inducible, vascular bundle-specific expression of the β-glucuronidase gene in transgenic tomato plants

Planta, 1997
Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv. Better Boy) plants were transformed with a fused gene containing a 2.2-kb promoter fragment of the tomato prosystemin gene and the coding region of the β-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene. The transgenic plants exhibited a low constitutive level of prosystemin-β-glucuronidase gene expression, assayed by ...

Some Recent Views as to the Composition of the Fibro-Vascular Bundles of Plants

Journal of Cell Science, 1876
ABSTRACT In the consideration of this subject the first important point is to distinguish with precision between the elements which make up the fibro-vascular bundles and those which belong to the ground tissue in which the bundles are arranged.

Influence of sodium on the development of the fibro-vascular bundles in hemp plants

Plant and Soil, 1961
The development of the fibrous zone in hemp plants is favourably affected by a moderate Na-supply (6 to 12% of sum of K, Na, Ca, and Mg ions in the medium). Sodium is supposed to have an indirect effect on the formation of fibrovascular tissue by conferring greater mobility and therefore greater availability upon phosphorus.

Cellular localization of NADH-dependent glutamate-synthase protein in vascular bundles of unexpanded leaf blades and young grains of rice plants

Planta, 1994
Tissue and cellular localization of NADH-dependent glutamate synthase (NADH-GOGAT, EC 1.4.1.14) in the unexpanced leaf blades and young grains of rice (Oryza sativa L.) was investigated using tissue-print immunoblot and immunocytological methods with an affinity-purified anti-NADH-GOGAT immunoglobulin G.

Modelling the spatial arrangement of vascular bundles in plants

2013
The spatial arrangement of vascular bundles varies between plant species and organs. A novel reaction-diffusion 2D model is presented defining a set of logical and functional rules able to simulate the differentiation of procambium, phloem and xylem.
