Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Water in the 2010 Virginia General Assembly

open access: yes, 2010
The 2010 Virginia General Assembly convened January 13 and adjourned March 13. The reconvened (“veto”) session was held April 21. During the session, the Assembly considered 2964 measures, passing 1598 of them, defeating 1093, and continuing 273 until ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Water in the 2006 Virginia General Assembly

open access: yes, 2006
The 2006 Virginia General Assembly convened January 11 and adjourned March 11, with a reconvened (“veto”) session on April 19. The legislature considered 3287 measures; among the most important business was development of the biennial state budget. Below

Effect of plant cover type on soil water budget and tree photosynthesis in jujube orchards

open access: yes, 2017
The traditional soil management practice used in rainfed orchards in the Chinese Loess Plateau is clear cultivation (bare soil). This system leads to severe water erosion and considerable loss of water as runoff during heavy rainfall, especially on steep

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Influence of nocturnal water dynamics on gas exchange and biomass accumulation in hydroponic basil

open access: yesScientia Horticulturae
Plant growth is dependent on water status, which can be manipulated by altering the water potential in the root zone or modifying atmospheric humidity around shoots.

Terahertz time domain spectroscopy allows contactless monitoring of grapevine water status

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Agriculture is the sector with the greatest water consumption, since food production is frequently based on crop irrigation. Proper irrigation management requires reliable information on plant water status, but all the plant-based methods to determine it

Relationship between Plant Water Status and Water Movement in Tomato.

open access: yesEngei Gakkai zasshi, 1993
Water economy between leaf and fruit in tomato plant was studied to establish a water management practice based on plant water status.1. Relationships among stem, leaf, and fruit water potentials in tomato plants are influ- enced by soil moisture status.

Problems Associated with Measuring Plant Water Status [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1990
The water status of plant cells affects physiological and metabolic activities as well as expansion and growth. Accurate measurements of plant water status are essential for a better understanding of productivity under various environmental conditions.
