Global effects of forest modification on herpetofauna communities. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol, 2023
Abstract As the area covered by human‐modified environments grows, it is increasingly important to understand the responses of communities to the novel habitats created, especially for sensitive and threatened taxa. We aimed to improve understanding of the major evolutionary and ecological processes that shape the assemblage of amphibian and reptile ...

Variable relationships between trait diversity and avian ecological functions in agroecosystems

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 87-98, January 2023., 2023
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract The diversity of traits within animal assemblages has been shown to affect the magnitude of animal‐provided ecological functions. However, little is known about how consistent trait diversity effects are across ecological functions and ecosystems.

A meta‐analysis of tropical land‐use change effects on the soil microbiome: Emerging patterns and knowledge gaps

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 738-752, May 2021., 2021
We identified 83 published paired studies that reported data on microbial biomass, abundance, composition, and enzyme activity under representative land‐use changes in the tropics. We found that microbial biomass, abundance, and functions were affected by land‐use change.

Importancia de las plantaciones forestales de Eucalyptus

open access: yesRa Ximhai, 2006

Models for biomass estimation in native forest tree plantations and secondary forests in the Costa Rican Caribbean Region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The use of forest ecosystems as carbon sinks is now more accepted. However, credible information about its growth in terms of\ud biomass and its capacity to capture and store CO2 is still insufficient in order to suggest ways by which forest owners ...
