We documented negative associations between feral burros and several elements of the Sonoran Desert ecosystem, and suggest that differences associated with this feral equid may be ecologically important and may have the potential to affect the long‐term viability of this ecosystem.

Genomic signatures of past megafrugivore‐mediated dispersal in Malagasy palms
Our results suggest that the legacy of megafrugivores regularly achieving long dispersal distances is still reflected in the population genetics of palms that were formerly dispersed by such animals. Furthermore, low genetic differentiation was possibly maintained after the megafauna extinctions through alternative dispersal (e.g.

This study examines disturbed vegetation inside, and undisturbed vegetation adjacent to, 5600+ km of natural gas pipelines to understand patterns of NPP and shrub cover recovery in drylands. The authors found that NPP recovery was uncommon, with 58% of sites showing a plateau trajectory in recovery. Median time for shrub cover recovery was 83 years and

A multitaxonomic assessment of Natura 2000 effectiveness across European biogeographic regions
Abstract The Natura 2000 (N2K) protected area (PA) network is a crucial tool to limit biodiversity loss in Europe. Despite covering 18% of the European Union's (EU) land area, its effectiveness at conserving biodiversity across taxa and biogeographic regions remains uncertain.

Co‐production of agroecological innovations to improve sustainability in South American fruit farms
Abstract Agricultural intensification and expansion are the main drivers of biodiversity loss that continue to increase this century, especially in South America. International markets and global policy provide incentives and frameworks to address this, but these are unlikely to be effective unless farmers on the ground are enabled and motivated to ...
