Counterstreaming plasma structures are widely present in laboratory experiments and astrophysical systems, and they are investigated either to prevent unstable modes arising in beam-plasma experiments or to prove the existence of large scale magnetic ...

Plasma kinetics in molecular plasmas and modeling of reentry plasmas
State-to-state non-equilibrium plasma kinetics is widely used to characterize cold molecular and reentry plasmas. The approach requires a high level of dynamical information, and demands a large effort in the creation of complete databases of state-resolved cross sections and rate coefficients.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Theoretical Study of the Ionization States and Electrical Conductivity of Tantalum Plasma
Tantalum is extensively used in inertial confinement fusion research for targets in radiation transport experiments, hohlraums in magnetized fusion experiments, and lining foams for hohlraums to suppress wall motions. To comprehend the physical processes

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Recent Advances in Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma for E. coli Decontamination in Food: A Review
Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) acts as a powerful antibacterial tool in the food industry, effectively eliminating E. coli and a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, spores, and biofilms in meat and vegetables.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Ionospheric Electron Density and Temperature Profiles Using Ionosonde-like Data and Machine Learning
Predicting the behaviour of the Earth’s ionosphere is crucial for the ground-based and spaceborne technologies that rely on it. This paper presents a novel way of inferring ionospheric electron density profiles and electron temperature profiles using ...

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Novel Plasma Source for Dense Plasma Effects
We describe the production of dense, cool plasmas by the laser ablation of inertially confined foils. Transitions from Al I, Al II, and Al III ions provide the diagnostic information. The electron density ${N}_{e}$ and temperature ${T}_{e}$ are (1-- $3\)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{19}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ and 1--8 eV ...
