Properties of gluon plasma bubbles

Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1992
The properties of droplets of gluon plasma are studied via Monte Carlo simulation. The finite size of the droplet and the finite interfacial width have large effects on droplet properties, giving rise to a phase diagram in which droplet radius and inner and outer temperatures are important.

Creation and expansion of a magnetized plasma bubble for plasma propulsion

Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2005
We discuss the coupled expansion of a plasma cloud and a neutral gas, both originating from a point-like source located in space and submitted to the action of an external flux of ionizing radiation. This problem is relevant to the artificial magnetospheric propulsion scheme for solar system exploration.

Formation of Bubbles, Blobs, and Surface Cusps in Complex Plasmas

Physical Review Letters, 2009
Investigations of the dynamical evolution of a complex plasma, in which a vertical temperature gradient compensates gravity, were carried out. At low power the formation of microparticle bubbles, blobs, and spraying cusps was observed. This activity can be turned on and off by changing control parameters, such as the rf power and the gas pressure ...

Downdrafting plasma flow in equatorial bubbles

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1994
The electric field experiment carried aboard the San Marco D equatorial ionospheric satellite regularly measured updrafting in plasma depletion channels or “equatorial bubbles” which form on the bottomside of the nightside equatorial F region. We report here observations of downdrafting vertical plasma velocities inside such depletion regions in the ...

Modeling of artificial plasma “bubble” in ionosphere

Advances in Space Research, 1992
Abstract Results of a combination of radio-crossing and in situ measurements of plasma density in an artificial plasma “bubble” in the ionosphere are presented. Shaped — charge barium injection was made at short distance (≤50 m) to plasma diagnostics on the rocket. After injection the rocket passed through expanding plasma shell.

On “bubbly” structures in plasma facing components

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2013
Abstract The theoretical model of “fuzz” growth describing the main features observed in experiments is discussed. This model is based on the assumption of enhancement of plasticity of tungsten containing significant fraction of helium atoms and clusters.

Evidence for a Plasma Inside a Sonoluminescing Bubble

Physics Today, 2005
The exceptionally bright light emitted by an acoustically vibrated bubble of argon gas in sulfuric acid helps illuminate the extreme conditions within a collapsed bubble.
