Plasma Cell Infiltrate in Liver Allograft Biopsy: Clinical and Histological Implications

open access: yesIndian Journal of Transplantation
Introduction: The relevance of plasma cells in the allograft liver is of utmost importance and objective assessment of these infiltrates and correlation with other ancillary findings needs to be evaluated.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

The expression of prion protein by endothelial cells: a source of the plasma form of prion protein?

open access: yes, 2002
The neuronal prion protein (PrPC) is also expressed within peripheral tissues including human blood. The majority of blood PrPC is found within the plasma fraction. We hypothesized that the vascular endothelium could be a source of this PrPC.

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

From chromaffin cells to Phaeochromocytoma: insight into the sympathoadrenal cell lineage

open access: yes, 2007
Chromaffin cells are a modified post-ganglionic sympathetic neuron, which synthesise and secrete catecholamines. The neoplastic transformation of chromaffin cells is demonstrated by the tumour phaeochromocytoma, a functional tumour that recapitulates the

Plasma-induced death of HepG2 cancer cells : intracellular effects of reactive species

open access: yes, 2011
Reports show that cold atmospheric-pressure plasmas can induce death of cancer cells in several minutes. However, very little is presently known about the mechanism of the plasma-induced death of cancer cells.

Daratumumab combined with anti-CD20 therapy in pediatric and adult refractory idiopathic nephrotic syndrome: single-center experience

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundRefractory idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS), in native kidneys or post-transplant, represents a major therapeutic challenge due to its high risk of progressing to end-stage renal disease.
