ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Propagation dynamics of a room-temperature pulsed argon plasma plume through a simple dispersion-grating diagnostic method [PDF]
In this paper, a novel grating-ICCD camera dispersion diagnostic method was designed to investigate the propagation behaviors of an open-air pulsed argon plasma plume.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Plasma diagnostic experiments on board of the Brazilian scientific microsatellite SACI-1 [PDF]
A set of three plasma diagnostic experiments, known as PLASMEX, are planned to investigate ionospheric plasma bubbles in the ionospheric region. We propose to measure the density, temperature and spectral distribution of irregularities of plasma using (1)

Plasma-driven ultrashort bunch diagnostics [PDF]
Ultrashort electron bunches are crucial for an increasing number of applications, however, diagnosing their longitudinal phase space remains a challenge. We propose a new method that harnesses the strong electric fields present in a laser driven plasma wakefield. By transversely displacing driver laser and witness bunch, a streaking field is applied to

Nonlinear physics of the ionosphere and LOIS/LOFAR
The ionosphere is the only large-scale plasma laboratory without walls that we have direct access to. From results obtained in systematic, repeatable experiments in this natural laboratory, where we can vary the stimulus and observe its response in a ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
