Porosity in plasma electrolytic oxide coatings
Acta Materialia, 2006Abstract Plasma electrolytic oxide coatings are generally assumed to be almost fully dense. However, evidence is presented here for the presence of sub-micrometre, surface-connected porosity in such coatings, on aluminium alloys, at levels of the order of 20%.

Plasma electrolytic oxide coatings on silumin for oxidation CO
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2017Some catalysts of CO oxidation on silumin alloy AK12M2, used for the manufacture of pistons for Russian cars were investigated. The catalysts were prepared by the method of plasma electrolytic oxidation of silumin in electrolytes of various compositions with further activation by the salts Ce, Cu, Co, Ni, Mn and Al. The catalytic tests were carried out

The effects of plasma electrolytically oxidized NiTi on in vitro endothelialization
Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2016The role of biomaterials surface in controlling the interfacial biological events leading to implant integration is of key importance. In this study, the effects of NiTi surfaces treated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) have been investigated.

The effect of reagent purity on AC plasma electrolytic oxidation of titanium in aluminate-phosphatebased electrolytes has been studied under constant rms current conditions. The resultant coatings were examined by high-resolution electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, revealing rutile, Al2TiO5, α-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3, with an aluminium-enriched outer ...
