Optimizing Fabrication of Plasma‐Driven CuO Shell Over Porous Al2O3 Substrate to Meet Coating Issues

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
In situ Cu2O‐to‐CuO transformation during plasma electrolytic oxidation of aluminum alloys. ABSTRACT A plasma‐driven in situ conversion strategy was developed in which Cu2O nanoparticles introduced into an alkaline phosphate–hydroxide electrolyte undergo oxidative transformation to CuO within plasma micro‐discharge channels during plasma electrolytic ...

Atmospheric Corrosion Protection of LPBF Manufactured AlSi10Mg by Combining SiOx‐CVD and PDMS Grafting

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Hybrid SiOₓ‐CVD/PDMS ultrathin films mitigate atmospheric corrosion of additively manufactured AlSi10Mg. Electrochemical analyses show reduced corrosion currents, increased charge‐transfer resistance, and suppressed pitting due to diminished cathodic activity and limited oxygen and ion transport under NaCl exposure.

Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) coatings on a zirconium alloy for improved wear and corrosion resistance [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on Engineering Sciences, 2010
Zr oxide coatings were deposited using plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) on Zr-2.5wt%Nb (Zr-2.5Nb) alloy, which is currently used for pressure tubes in the CANDU nuclear reactor. The effects of two PEO processing factors, electrolyte concentration and current density, on the microstructure and properties of the coatings were systematically ...

Use of Organic Acids as Additives for Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) of Titanium

open access: yesCoatings
The present study investigates the influence of organic acids, added to the electrolytic solution, on the structure, morphology, and corrosion behaviour of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coatings produced on titanium grade 2. Particular attention is paid to the role of functional groups in the modification of the oxide’s properties.

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Bioresorbable Mo–W Electrodes: Toward an Extended Operational Lifetime Through Controlled Alloying and Oxide Coating Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 11, 9 June 2026.
Bioresorbable electrochemical sensors face instability in biofluids. Although alloys can mitigate rapid in vivo dissolution, Mo–W remains underexplored for sensing. This work engineers Mo–W films with a nanocrystalline oxide coating, improving stability and enabling reliable oxygen and pH sensing for up to 10 days, highlighting their potential for ...
