Plasma focus discharge on mercury
2008 IEEE 35th International Conference on Plasma Science, 2008On January 14, 2008 the NASA space probe Messenger came within 200-km of Mercury, photographing a plasma focus discharge penumbra etched into the surface. The pattern recorded is identical to that etched on steel plates in experimental discharges: 112-rays from a discharge channel terminating at and producing a thick torus, here 40 km wide.

Dense plasma in Z-pinches and the plasma focus
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1981Many of the earliest experiments in controlled thermonuclear fusion research were Z -pinches. However these pinches were found to be highly unstable to the m = 0, the m — 1 (kink), and the Rayleigh-Taylor instability.

Hollow Anode Cascading Plasma Focus
Journal of the Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics, 2015Using the 3-phase model for each focus event, the 9-phase, two solid disc auxiliary anode cascading plasma focus has been extended to include holes at the center of each cascade anode (hereafter referred to as hollow anode cascading focus) with a view of increasing the neutron yield with each focus event.
