Nonthermal Impurity Radiation from a Spherical Plasma. II.

The Physics of Fluids, 1964
The steady-state radiation loss of a homogeneous and isothermal spherical plasma due to an optically thick spectral line is calculated under the assumption that all other transitions of the considered atoms remain optically thin. The line profile is approximated by a rectangular profile and by a Doppler profile, respectively.

Impurity transport at the plasma edge

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1990
Abstract Of the three major links in the chain connecting plasma edge conditions to central impurity levels, that is, (a) production (b) edge transport (c) central transport, edge transport is the weakest link in that it is the most complex, least understood and hardest to measure directly.

Review paper A4. Plasma impurities and cooling

Physics Reports, 1978
Abstract In high-temperature low-density plasmas radiation cooling by impurity atoms can be an important energy loss mechanism, since the radiation is not reabsorbed. In a brief historical survey it is shown that the problem is not new but was discussed since the first beginning of controlled thermo-nuclear fusion research.

Impurity Content of Plasma Produced by a Coaxial Plasma Gun

The Physics of Fluids, 1963
The impurity content of plasmas produced by a coaxial plasma gun, while low, has generally been estimated by measurements of qualitative nature. Since impurities constitute the primary source of radiation loss and cooling, a study was made to explore this plasma property. (R.E.U.)

Impurity-seeded plasma experiments on JET

2003
Scaling to larger tokamaks of high confinement plasmas with radiating edges, induced by impurities, is being studied through internationally collaborative experiments on JET. In campaigns till the end of 2000, three different regimes have been explored. A small number of limiter L-mode discharges seeded with neon have most closely repeated the approach
