Experimental Control of Plasma Instabilities

open access: yes
A review is given of active control of plasma instabilities in a number of different experimental configurations. Starting with the control of global oscillations in simple plasma diodes, the more demanding problem of wave-type plasma instabilities is ...

Magnetohydrodynamic Model for Plasma Instabilities in the Ion-Kinetic Regime

open access: yes, 1994
A magnetized plasma is considered. It is shown that the MHD model provides an adequate description of plasma instabilities in the ion-kinetic regime, where the characteristic scales of the plasma motion fall below the ion Larmor radius.

Plasma shape stabilization of current rise MHD instabilities in TCV

open access: yes, 2007
The well-known and potentially disruptive plasma 'current rise' instabilities are studied as a function of the plasma shape in the Tokamak a a Configuration Variable (TCV).

Minimally Invasive Delivery of Optical Nanosensors Using Injectable Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Injectable peptide hydrogels offer a minimally invasive delivery platform for single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)‐based near‐infrared fluorescent sensors, enabling real‐time measurement of drug concentrations. Encapsulated SWCNTs show a dose‐dependent fluorescence response across physiologically relevant concentrations and retain their fluorescence ...

What is a plasma instability?

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1992
Just as a heated solid will melt into a liquid and a liquid heated further will evaporate into a gas, so will a gas subjected to yet further thermal input become ionized. In other words, if the atoms or molecules of a gas are given sufficient thermal energy, particle collisions can tear individual electrons away from these neutral particles, so that ...

Van der Waals Chromium Telluride Thin Films Prepared by Hybrid Pulsed Laser Deposition With Tunable Magnetism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Epitaxial Cr(1+δ)Te2 thin films were synthesized via hybrid Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) that combined Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) techniques with PLD. Control of the Cr intercalation, δ, enabled modulation of magnetic anisotropy, Curie temperature, and transport properties.

Suppression of parametric instabilities induced by lower hybrid waves

open access: yes, 2017
In the framework of the study of parametric instabilities involving lower hybrid wave propagation in a magnetized plasma, this work presents a new nonlinear parametric dispersion equation, based on a kinetic model, taking into account the collisional ...

Micropillar‐Engineered Hybrid Adhesive Patch for Surface‐Conformable and Directional Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work presents a surface‐conformable hybrid adhesive integrating height‐optimized hexagonal micropillars with open‐rectangular cuts. The micropillars enhance rough‐surface contact and microscale crack arrest, while the cuts guide and reverse interfacial cracks for strong and directional adhesion. The multiscale architecture achieves robust pull‐off
