Plasma medicine - therapeutic application of physical plasmas

2009
Plasma medicine is an innovative and emerging field combining plasma physics, life science and clinical medicine to use physical plasma for therapeutic applications. Initial experiments confirm that plasma can be effective in in vivo antiseptics without affecting surrounding tissue and, moreover, stimulating tissue regeneration.

Plasma medicine: The advent of the plasma kill - plasma heal paradigm

2014 IEEE 41st International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS) held with 2014 IEEE International Conference on High-Power Particle Beams (BEAMS), 2014
Low temperature plasmas in air or air-containing mixtures produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as O, O 2 −, and OH and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) such as NO and NO 2 which exhibit strong oxidative properties and/or trigger signaling pathways in biological cells1.
