Plasma torch with liquid metal electrodes

In order to eliminate the negative effect of erosion processes on electrodes in arc plasma generators, a new scheme of arc discharge was proposed in which the surface of a molten metal acts as electrodes. A plasma reactor was designed on the basis of this concept.

A new method of generating a stable plasma at atmospheric pressure using inductive coupling at a frequency of several Mc is described. Methods of starting and operating this plasma in argon, and mixtures of argon with helium, hydrogen, oxygen, and air are discussed.
