Influence of secondary gas on control characteristics of ICP-RF plasma torches [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Thermal plasma characteristics inside an atmospheric pressure Radio-Frequency Argon plasma torch have been studied by numerically solving axis-symmetric 2-D Magnetohydrodynamics equations, energy transport equations and species conservation equation coupled with 2D Maxwell equations in the vector potential form.

Utilization of Ultrasonication as a Method of Reducing Organic and Inorganic Contamination in Post‐Consumer Plastic Film Waste

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Post‐consumer single‐used plastic film (SUPF) waste often carries organic/inorganic contaminants, challenging recycling processes and affecting the quality of recycled products. This study compares the efficiency of friction, ultrasonic‐assisted, and a combination of both washing techniques on film samples collected from material recovery facilities ...

Microwave plasma torch for processing hydrocarbon gases

open access: yesResource-Efficient Technologies, 2016
AbstractWe designed and developed an ultrahigh-frequency (microwave) plasma torch with a combined (nitrogen, methane) plasma-forming environment, and microwave output of up to 2 kW, continuously. We demonstrate the possibility of using it in order to process natural and associated petroleum (APG) gas into valuable products (hydrogen and carbon ...

Computational study of flow dynamics from a dc arc plasma jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Plasma jets produced by direct-current (DC) non-transferred arc plasma torches, at the core of technologies ranging from spray coating to pyrolysis, present intricate dynamics due to the coupled interaction of fluid flow, thermal, and electromagnetic phenomena.

Tunable Release of Ions from Graphene Oxide Laminates for Sustained Antibacterial Activity in a Biomimetic Environment

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A slow and longer‐term delivery of silver ions for sustained antimicrobial activity is developed by incorporating silver ions within the 2D nanocapillaries of GO laminates. The controlled release of silver ions from these laminates has provided sustained antimicrobial activity for more than 10 days in a biomimetic environment.

Arc Plasma Torch Modeling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Spray Technology, (2009), Vol. 18, No. 5/6, pp. 728-752, 2013
Arc plasma torches are the primary components of various industrial thermal plasma processes involving plasma spraying, metal cutting and welding, thermal plasma CVD, metal melting and remelting, waste treatment and gas production. They are relatively simple devices whose operation implies intricate thermal, chemical, electrical, and fluid dynamics ...
