Atmospheric Argon Free burning Arcs with a Simplified Unified Model Using CFD-Arc Modeling [PDF]
Free burning arcs, where the work piece acts as an anode, are frequently used for a number of applications. Our investigation is exclusively concerned with a simplified unified model of arcs and their electrodes under steady state conditions at ...

External Tank - The Structure Backbone [PDF]
The External Tank forms the structural backbone of the Space Shuttle in the launch configuration. Because the tank flies to orbital velocity with the Space Shuttle Orbiter, minimization of weight is mandatory, to maximize payload performance.

Effect of cyclic loads on fatigue behavior of Ni–Cr–B–Si cladding on 316L(N) SS using PTA process
316L(N) stainless steel (SS) components in Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs) are hardfaced with NiCrBSi alloy in order to avoid self-welding. Hardfacing is performed by the plasma transferred arc welding (PTA) process, as it gives lesser dilution ...

Friction and wear of plasma-sprayed coatings containing cobalt alloys from 25 deg to 650 deg in air [PDF]
Four different compositions of self-lubricating, plasma-sprayed, composite coatings with calcium fluoride dispersed throughout cobalt alloy-silver matrices were evaluated on a friction and wear apparatus.

The paper describes the surfacing technology for coating of high-alloyed austenitic stainless steel 316L on the steel S235JR base material. Coatings were applied by plasma transferred arc welding process. The 5 samples were made using different welding currents while other welding param-eters were constant.
