Analysis of Eddy Formation and Heat Transfer Process in Weld Pool during Plasma Keyhole Arc Welding

open access: yes, 2020
This investigation aims to discuss the formation process of eddies and the heat transportation in plasma keyhole arc welding. In order to clarify this issue, the measurement of the convection inside the weld pool, the convection on the weld pool surface, also the temperature distribution on the weld pool surface were carried out.

Comparison of cavitation erosion of NiCrBSi and AISI 316L coatings deposited by powder plasma transferred Arc welding

open access: yesActa Polytechnica
This study carefully compares the effect of microstructure and hardness on the cavitation wear resistance of PPTA (Powder Plasma Transferred Arc) deposited coatings. Deposits were made on a substrate of S235JR structural steel.

NiTi Coatings Produced by Plasma Transferred Arc Welding Process and Its Wear Characteristics.

open access: yesQUARTERLY JOURNAL OF THE JAPAN WELDING SOCIETY, 2001
In this work, a feasibility study has been conducted to produce NiTi intermetallic compound layer using mixed powders of Ni and Ti by plasma transferred arc welding. Wear characteristics of the coatings were evaluated by using a modified Okoshi-type wear tester. It was possible to produce intermetallic compound coatings from the simply mixed powders by ...

A Novel Simplified Approach to Physically Simulate Wire‐Arc Directed Energy Deposition Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 22, November 2025.
Scarcity of specialized titanium alloy wires and high experimental wire production costs impedes wire‐arc directed energy deposition (waDED) adoption in industry. A novel, wireless approach is introduced to accelerate and economize titanium alloy development.
