Shock wave modulation due to discharged plasma using a shock tube

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2016
The interaction phenomenon between shock waves and the DC-discharged plasma was experimentally investigated to aid future supersonic aerodynamic performance improvements. A shock tube was used to generate the shock wave.

Marked Long‐Term Improvement in Lung Function in Melanoma Differentiation–Associated Protein 5 Antibody–Positive Dermatomyositis Patients: Experience of a Single‐Center Longitudinal Cohort in North America

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The objective of this study was to describe the longitudinal disease course and pulmonary outcomes of North American patients with melanoma differentiation–associated protein 5 (MDA5) antibody–associated dermatomyositis (DM). Methods Thirty patients with MDA5 antibody–associated DM were identified in a single‐center longitudinal cohort of 352

Plasma Interaction with Electron-Emitting Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Electron emission from surfaces occurs in many plasma systems. Several types including secondary, thermionic and photon-induced emissions are intense under certain conditions.

Kinetic plasma-wall interaction using immersed boundary conditions

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The interaction between a plasma and a solid surface is studied in a (1D-1V) kinetic approach using immersed boundary conditions and penalization to model the wall.

Protein diffusion in plant cell plasma membranes: The cell-wall corral

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Studying protein diffusion informs us about how proteins interact with their environment. Work on protein diffusion over the last several decades has illustrated the complex nature of biological lipid bilayers.

Study of microscale surface morphology changing of the retroreflector in EAST by means of laser speckle interferometry technique

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2021
The retroreflectors in EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak) are important optical components of Polarimeter-Interferometer (POINT) system, working as the first mirrors to reflect the incident far-infrared laser.

Plasma Wall Interaction and its Control by Wall Conditioning

open access: yesFusion Technology, 1998
The surrounding material walls in fusion devices must fulfil three important tasks:provide high vacuum conditions necessary to provide clean fusion plasmas absorb the power produced by the {alpha}-particles in the fusion processes and injected by auxiliary heating enable the exhaust of the helium ash by thermalisation of the helium plasma ions on ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

The lectin receptor kinase LecRK-I.9 is a novel Phytophthora resistance component and a potential host target for a RXLR effector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In plants, an active defense against biotrophic pathogens is dependent on a functional continuum between the cell wall (CW) and the plasma membrane (PM). It is thus anticipated that proteins maintaining this continuum also function in defense. The legume-

Plasma-wall interaction studies in W7-X: main results from the recent divertor operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
International audienceWendelstein 7-X (W7-X) is an optimized stellarator with a 3-dimensional five-fold modular geometry. The plasma-wall-interaction (PWI) investigations in the complex 3D geometry of W7-X were carried out by in situ spectroscopic ...
