Plasmid-mediated Quinolone Resistance inSalmonella enterica, United Kingdom
To the Editor: Fluoroquinolones are broad-spectrum antimicrobial drugs used to treat many clinical infections. Salmonellosis is treated with fluoroquinolones only in elderly or immunocompromised patients, but these drugs are also used for treating patients with enteric fever, invasive disease, or long-term salmonellae carriage.

In the present study, plasmid pAC3 isolated from a highly fluoroquinolone-resistant isolate of Aeromonas species was sequenced and found to contain two fluoroquinolone resistance genes, aac ( 6′ )- Ib-cr and qnrS2 ...

We searched for plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance determinants of the Qnr type in several water samples collected at diverse locations from the Seine River (Paris, France). The qnrS2 genes were identified from Aeromonas punctata subsp. punctata and A.

drugs. Resistance to quinolones can be chromosomally encoded or plasmid-mediated (PMQR). One PMQR mechanism is mediated by Qnr proteins. The horizontal gene transfer of this plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance increases the threat of fallible treatment

The spread of aac(6')-Ib-cr plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance determinants was evaluated in 197 enterobacterial isolates recovered in an Italian teaching hospital. The aac(6')-Ib-cr gene was found exclusively in Escherichia coli strains. The gene was

First description of ColE-type plasmid in Aeromonas spp. carrying quinolone resistance (qnrS2) gene
Aims: Isolation and full sequence analysis of ColE-type plasmid, which carries the qnrS2 gene. Methods and Results: Quinolone resistance (qnrS2) gene-carrying plasmids were isolated from Aeromonas sobria and Aeromonas hydrophila strains, and plasmid ...

Plasmid-Mediated Quinolone Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Burn Patients in Tehran, Iran [PDF]
Introduction: Plasmid-induced quinolone resistance has raised a great concern in the treatment of serious infections worldwide. The aims of this study were to determine the antibiotic susceptibility, the frequency of qepA, aac(6')-Ib and qnr genes by PCR
