Plasmon-induced transparency in metamaterials.

Physical Review Letters, 2008
A plasmonic "molecule" consisting of a radiative element coupled with a subradiant (dark) element is theoretically investigated. The plasmonic molecule shows electromagnetic response that closely resembles the electromagnetically induced transparency in ...

Plasmons and intersubband plasmons of a superlattice

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1984
The collective plasmon modes of a doped or modulated doped semiconductor superlattice are investigated via a calculation of the wave-vector frequency-dependent dielectric constant. Explicit account is taken of the quantum well subband structure; including finite wave functions and intersubband transitions.

Plasmonics

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2016
Surface plasmon photonics (“plasmonics”) is an expanding field at the frontiers of optical science and engineering, concerned with the interaction of light with metallic structures. Surface plasmons are coupled electromagnetic/charge-density waves propagating along metal-dielectric interfaces or localized at metal nanostructures.

Mechanistic Studies of Plasmon Chemistry on Metal Catalysts.

Angewandte Chemie, 2019
Chemical reactions induced by the localized surface plasmon (LSP) of metal nanostructures could be important for a sustainable society to achieve highly efficient conversion from solar energy to chemical energy. However, the reaction mechanism of plasmon

Surface plasmons at work?

Nature Physics, 2006
Further analysis of controversial data questioning the role of surface plasmons in extraordinary optical transmission reasserts the conventional view, and suggests there is still much to be done to understand the details of this phenomenon.

Plasmon-Mediated Catalytic O2 Dissociation on Ag Nanostructures: Hot Electrons or Near Fields?

ACS Energy Letters, 2019
Plasmonic nanostructures have been proposed as useful materials for photon harvesting applications. However, the mechanisms by which energy transfer occurs across interfaces formed between plasmonic materials and their environment are under debate.

Plasmonics

2010
Publisher Summary This chapter introduces the principles of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon and its applications, particularly in sensing. The SPR is a quantum electromagnetic (EM) phenomenon arising from the interaction of light with free electrons at a metal–dielectric interface emerging as a longitudinal EM wave in a two-dimensional ...
