Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Effect of machined surface condition on fatigue strength of Ni based superalloy Alloy718 (2nd report, investigation of the residual stress relaxation using crystal plasticity FEM)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
In this study, the effect of machined surface layer on residual stress relaxation was investigated. In previous study, low cycle fatigue strength was affected by residual stress.

Nonequilibrium Structure of Colloidal Dumbbells under Oscillatory Shear

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate the nonequilibrium behavior of dense, plastic-crystalline suspensions of mildly anisotropic colloidal hard dumbbells under the action of an oscillatory shear field by employing Brownian dynamics computer simulations.

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Landau theory of barocaloric plastic crystals

open access: yesJPhys Energy
We present a minimal Landau theory of plastic-to-crystal phase transitions in which the key components are a multipole-moment order parameter that describes the orientational ordering of the constituent molecules, coupling between such order parameter ...
