Behaviour of Hybrid Steel and FRP-Reinforced Concrete—ECC Composite Columns under Reversed Cyclic Loading

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) is used widely in concrete structures owing to its noncorrosive, light-weight, nonmagnetic, and high tensile-strength properties.

Kirigami‐Cut Pattern Designs for the Enhancement of Sensing Performance Induced by Programmable Out‐of‐Plane Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Different kirigami patterns are proposed and the parameters are optimized by comparing the out‐of‐plane deformation behavior. Then, the proposed patterns are fabricated on PVDF film using laser technology. The deformed kirigami‐cut PVDF is embedded into PDMS to construct pressure senor.

Bio‐Inspired Bidirectional Winding Origami With Programmable Modular Reconfigurability and Scalability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired bidirectional‐winding origami platform enables scalable and programmable deployable structures. Double axial folding inspired by earwig hindwings and Flasher‐based hybridization create modular multilayer architectures with diverse attainable winding angles under fixed boundary conditions.

Metal Battery Anode: Rich in Electrons, Rich in Problems: A Critical Review from Industrial Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metal‐anode batteries using Li, Na, Mg, and Ca offer exceptionally high energy density, but dendrites, unstable interphases, cracking, and pore formation hinder durability and safety. This review shows how careful electrolyte and interphase design can stabilize these reactive metals.

From Folding Mechanics to Robotic Function: A Unified Modeling Framework for Compliant Origami

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A geometry‐consistent DDG framework captures compliant origami deformation from rigid‐like folding to soft panel bending. By tuning crease and panel stiffness, bistable snap‐through responses transform into smooth monostable deformation, enabling programmable stability and robot‐scale locomotion.

A Rigid–Foldable Kirigami‐Inspired Metamorphic Mechanism With Programmable Motion Modes and Self‐Locking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Geometric constraint reconfiguration enables a rigid–foldable kirigami‐inspired mechanism to switch between twisting, directional translation, and self‐locking states. By encoding multifunctionality directly into its architecture, the mechanism achieves multimodal motion and passive locking without reassembly, providing a compact platform for adaptive ...

Study on Seismic Performance of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Pier Under Bending–Torsion Coupling

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To systematically study the mechanical behavior of a steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) pier under bending–torsion coupling, three pier specimens with a clear height of 1200 mm, a diameter of 300 mm, and an SFRC height of 300 mm in the plastic hinge ...
