Study on Plastic Hinge Length and Limit Curvature of RC Column
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The theory calculation method, test methods and experience formulas of reinforced concrete column equivalent plastic hinge length are summarized firstly. The limit state is defined as the constraint concrete to ultimate compressive strain. Finally, the simplified calculation method of equivalent plastic hinge length is proposed.

Plastic Hinge Length Considering Shear Reversal in Reinforced Concrete Elements
Journal of Earthquake Engineering, 2012Concrete structures can dissipate seismic energy during moderate to severe earthquakes by deforming inelastically. The inelastic deformation should concentrate at specific locations, referred to as plastic hinges. An experimental program was conducted to explore the factors affecting plastic hinge formation and length in beams.

Probabilistic Approach for Estimating Plastic Hinge Length of Reinforced Concrete Columns
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2016AbstractGiven the importance of the plastic hinge length in predicting the displacement ductility of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, it is crucial to be able to accurately determine it without a large scatter. However, given the large number of model parameters with significant uncertainty, a deterministic prediction of plastic hinge length is ...

Plastic Hinge Lengths of Normal and High-Strength Concrete in Flexure
Advances in Structural Engineering, 2002Full-range analysis methods are becoming popular in design of reinforced concrete structures. These methods require a knowledge of the behaviour of plastic hinges up to advanced curvatures. Concrete sections characteristically soften beyond the plastic phase. To analyse a strain-softening structure, many researchers have used a finite hinge length.

Investigation of Plastic Hinge Length in Reinforced Concrete Columns on Column Behavior
Advanced Engineering Forum, 2017In reinforced concrete buildings in case of a possible earthquake, the buildings slamp as they lost their horizontal stability because of hinging of column ends. The assumptions for plastic hinge lengths are present during project stage of reinforced concrete buildings.

Influence of Strand Development Length in Formation of Plastic Hinges in Prestressed Piles
PCI Journal, 2001Pullout tests and simply supported three point beam bending tests have traditionally been used in research to estimate the development length of prestressing strands. In many of the tests found in the literature, the development length of prestressing strands took place in regions where cracking of the concrete section was a minimum or practically ...

Equivalent Plastic Hinge Length of Extended Pile-Shafts embedded in Sand
IABSE Reports, 2016<p>Under strong seismic excitation, the extended pile-shaft will inevitably form a plastic hinge in its underground portion. The underground damage is difficult for post-earthquake restoration and may cause large residual displacement at the top of the pile-shaft.
