Anti‐icing Performance of Superhydrophobic Surfaces with Periodic Micro‐nano Structures Directly Induced by Femtosecond Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study provides a femtosecond laser etching method for preparing superhydrophobic anti‐icing surfaces, which directly induces periodic micro‐nano structures on the laser scanning path, eliminating the complicated steps of designing hydrophobic patterns.

Nanoengineering of Chitosan Sponges Via Atomic Layer Deposition of ZnO for Water Remediation Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Chitosan sponges are modified with ZnO through atomic layer deposition (ALD) to enhance water remediation. Characterization reveals the growth of defective ZnO, which improves the water stability of the sponges. The material's effectiveness is demonstrated through the removal of Direct Blue 78 dye and the photocatalytic degradation of Naproxen ...

The Fabrication of Fluorine‐Free Stretchable Superhydrophobic Films Using Inverse Vulcanization Sulfur Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study developed a new type of flexible, water‐repellent coating made from sulfur, a byproduct of the petrochemical industry, combined with silica nanoparticles, while demonstrating how coating thickness impacts fragmentation during stretching, affecting wettability.

Fish carcass deposition to suppress invasive lake trout through hypoxia causes limited, non‐target effects on benthic invertebrates in Yellowstone Lake

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 2, Issue 6, Page 470-483, December 2022., 2022
In Yellowstone Lake, Wyoming, lake trout carcasses are used to suppress invasive lake trout embryos in an effort to conserve native Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Using a field experiment, we determined that carcass treatment had limited, non‐target effects on benthic invertebrates.
