Tracking of [14C]Polystyrene Nanoplastics in Pregnant Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 32, 9 June 2026.
This study investigates [14C]polystyrene nanoplastic ([14C]PS) translocation in late‐stage pregnant mice after intranasal (0.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD12, GD14, and GD16, n = 6) and intravenous administration (1.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD16, n = 6). 14C‐radiolabel allows quantitative tracking of unmodified polystyrene nanoplastics.

Characterization and performance evaluation of epoxy-based plastic scintillators for gamma ray detection

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
This research investigates the fabrication and analysis of plastic scintillators using an epoxy matrix. Plastic scintillators are widely used in radiation detection because of their low cost, ease of fabrication, resistance to moisture, and rapid decay ...

Sampling calorimeter to measure the photon’s incident angle [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
A three-dimensional fine-segmented sampling calorimeter enables us to measure the profiles of generated shower particles along the photon’s direction. For a feasibility study, a toy detector was designed via Geant4 simulation.

PCL/Chitosan/Bioglass Hybrid Composite Shape Memory Scaffolds With Accelerated Degradation and Enhanced Bioactivity

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 6, June 2026.
Hybrid composite shape memory scaffolds were developed for potential craniomaxillofacial bone defect repair. These scaffolds exhibit accelerated degradation and induce rapid, robust hydroxyapatite mineralization in 1X simulated body fluid (SBF). ABSTRACT “Self‐fitting” shape memory polymer (SMP) scaffolds based on cross‐linked poly(ε‐caprolactone ...

New Fluorescent Compounds for Plastic Scintillator Applications Submitted to Nuclear Instruments and Methods New Fluorescent Compounds for Plastic Scintillator Applications

open access: yes, 2020
The fluorescent compound 3-hydroxyflavone (3HF) has been modified in order to study the resulting structure-fluorescence relationship. A series of twelve derivatives, bearing different substituents at various positions on the phenyl ring, has been ...

Martian Proton Albedo as Signature of Near‐Surface Water

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Understanding the Martian soil water budget is crucial not only for in situ resource utilization in future human missions to Mars, but also for reconstructing the geological and climatic history of the planet, as well as to assess the potential of ancient or even present microbial life.

The plastic scintillator activated with fluorinated 3-hydroxyflavone

open access: yes, 2017
A new radiation-hard plastic scintillator (PS), based on polystyrene and activated with fluorinated 3-hydroxyflavone, is presented. The new scintillator has the light output half-attenuation dose equal to 11 Mrad, which is much more than a similar PS ...
