Effect of steel fibers on plastic shrinkage cracking of normal and high strength concretes
Naturally concrete shrinks when it is subjected to a drying environment. If this shrinkage is restrained, tensile stresses develop and concrete may crack. Plastic shrinkage cracks are especially harmful on slabs.

Skin thickness of the anterior, anteromedial, and anterolateral thigh: a cadaveric study for split-skin graft donor sites [PDF]
Background: The depth of graft harvest and the residual dermis available for reepithelization primarily influence the healing of split-skin graft donor sites.

Some Geotechnical Properties of Plastic Soil Enhanced with Cement Dust
Plastic soil exhibits unfavorited geotechnical properties (when saturation), which causes negative defects to engineering structures. Different attempts (included various materials) were conducted to proffer solutions to such defects by experimenting in ...

Restrained Shrinkage of Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Concrete and Analysis of Long Term Shrinkage Prediction Models [PDF]
The research presented in this manuscript describes the procedure to quantify the restrained shrinkage of geopolymer concrete (GPC) using ring specimen. Massive concrete structures are susceptible to shrinkage and thermal cracking.

Predicting the onset of rafting of c 0 precipitates by channel deformation in a Ni superalloy [PDF]
The growth or shrinkage, normal to 001, of the interfaces between the γ matrix and cuboidal γ' precipitates is examined for a Ni-base superalloy, by considering the force acting on the interfaces. The force is produced by the precipitate coherency misfit

Effect of 1 wt% LiF additive on the densification of nanocrystalline Y2O3 ceramics by spark plasma sintering [PDF]
Densification of nanocrystalline cubic yttria (nc-Y2O3) powder, with 18 nm crystal size and 1 wt% LiF as a sintering additive was investigated. Specimens were fabricated by spark plasma sintering at 100 MPa, within the temperature range of 700–1500 °C ...

The effect of fibers on the loss of water by evaporation and shrinkage of concrete
Shrinkage is one of the least desirable attributes in concrete. Large areas of exposed concrete surfaces , such as in shotcrete tunnel linings, where it is practically impossible to make a moist cure, are highly susceptible to plastic shrinkage at early ...
