Plane Strain Plastic Deformation
1977In previous chapters, plastic deformation of an element of material on a microscopic scale was considered as though the element were independent of the body of material. For many metal forming processes such as forging, drawing and rolling the geometrical configuration of the tooling, frictional conditions at the workpiece—tooling interfaces and the ...

Large-Strain Surface Modeling Using Plasticity
IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer GraphicsModeling arbitrarily large deformations of surfaces smoothly embedded in three-dimensional space is challenging. We give a new method to represent surfaces undergoing large spatially varying rotations and strains, based on differential geometry, and surface first and second fundamental forms.

Finite-strain elasto-plasticity
2000In this chapter, the infinitesimal theory of elasto-plasticity of Chap. 12 is generalized to finite strains. Two formulations are presented. The first one is based on a multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into elastic and plastic parts and on hyperelastic stress-strain relations.

Plastic strain localization in Bouligand structures
Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical MaterialsThe Bouligand structure represents helicoidal stacking of aligned fibers; such a structure is widely observed in biological composites. Despite the progress in characterization of toughening caused by Bouligand arrangement of fibers, the inelastic deformation mechanisms of this structure remain elusive.

Elastic-Plastic Deformation at Finite Strains
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1969In some circumstances, elastic-plastic deformation occurs in which both components of strain are finite. Such situations fall outside the scope of classical plasticity theory which assumes either infinitesimal strains or plastic-rigid theory for large strains.

Finite-strain anisotropic plasticity and the plastic spin
Modelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering, 1994A detailed analysis of the kinematics of anisotropic elastoplastic solids under finite isothermal deformations is presented. The formulation is based on a multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient tenser into elastic and plastic parts.
