Metaplasticity: the plasticity of synaptic plasticity
Trends in Neurosciences, 1996In this paper, we review experimental evidence for a novel form of persistent synaptic plasticity we call metaplasticity. Metaplasticity is induced by synaptic or cellular activity, but it is not necessarily expressed as a change in the efficacy of normal synaptic transmission.

Synapses Plastic plasticity [PDF]
The connections between neurons (synapses) can adapt to changing circumstances of nervous transmissions, a phenomenon known as activity-dependent plasticity. Moreover, such plasticity is itself regulated, but little is known about the mechanisms or behavioural consequences of this metaplasticity.

Plasticizers in Rubbers and Plastics
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1947Abstract Up to the advent of synthetic high polymers, plasticizer technology was little understood, Plasticizers had been used mainly with cellulose derivatives, which are not at all good materials for the study of plasticizer action. The chemical processing they undergo, e.g., nitration, acetylation, etc., leads to variations on account of ...

This chapter on styrenic plastics covers a broad class of polymeric materials of which an important part is styrene. Chemical structures, manufacturers, and trade names along with typical end uses of the plastics are included. Where available, there are sections covering fatigue data and tribology data in graphical and tabular forms.

A variety of noninvasive brain stimulation techniques have been used to study neuronal plasticity. Mostly, noninvasive techniques have been employed, and the bulk of studies have focused on the motor system, because its physiology is more readily accessible and physiological properties can be studied with greater detail than in other systems.
