Not a Sip: Effects of Zero Tolerance Laws on Road Traffic Fatalities

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 377-393, February 2026.
ABSTRACT A substantial proportion of alcohol related fatalities and their consequences are preventable, prompting policymakers to implement measures aimed at reducing these deaths. I exploit time and geographic variation in the adoption of zero‐tolerance laws in a difference‐in‐differences design to study the impact of these regulations on traffic ...

Streamflow Elasticity to Precipitation Distribution and Potential Evapotranspiration Across South America

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
Graphical abstract summarizing the modelling experiments used to quantify streamflow elasticity to changes and temporal redistribution of precipitation across South America, highlighting stronger effects of seasonal redistribution and larger responses in humid climates. ABSTRACT This study examines the sensitivity of mean, high and low streamflows (i.e.

Projections of Atmospheric Moisture Transport Over South America in a Changing Climate

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 2, February 2026.
End‐of‐century (2071–2100) climate projections show significant contrasts in atmospheric moisture over South America, with increased divergence over Northern Chile and Eastern Brazil and stronger convergence over the La Plata and Magdalena basins. Moisture convergence raises risks of extreme rainfall and floods, while divergence intensifies droughts ...

Transition in Global Basins From Precipitation‐Dominated to Evaporative Demand‐Dominated Meteorological Drought: Past Patterns and Future Projections

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Meteorological drought, one of the most destructive natural hazards, is driven by both precipitation deficits and high evaporative demand. While precipitation has traditionally been considered the dominant driver, recent studies suggest an increasing influence of evaporative demand.
