Development of the nasal capsule in Emydura subglobosa (Testudines: Pleurodira) with a comparison to other turtles

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Extant turtles occupy freshwater, marine, and terrestrial habitats, and their nasal region provides important evidence for the evolution of respiration‐ and sensory‐related cranial morphology. However, developmental data on the turtle nasal capsule remain limited, particularly in Pleurodira.

Bimanual instrument suturing technique for periodontal and implant microsurgery: A technical note

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.

Heterogeneous Exhumation Mechanisms in Neoproterozoic Collisional Metamorphism: P–T Constraints From Pelotas and Punta del Este Terranes, Southern Brazil and Uruguay

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Petrography, thermobarometry, and pseudosection modelling reveal peak metamorphic conditions of 3–7.5 kbar and 520°C–800°C in Tonian‐Cryogenian orthogneisses of the Dom Feliciano Belt. Metamorphic field gradients of 27°C/km–39°C/km and variable exhumation mechanisms support correlation of these units as remnants of a Himalayan‐type Piratini Orogeny ...

Plata Quemada

open access: yesLiteratura e Autoritarismo, 2003
There is a moment, about a half-hour into Marcelo Piñeyro's Plata Quemada (2000), of really quite pure tragic dimensions. I use the word "tragic" advisedly, not in its overused sense of "pathetic" or "unfortunate," nor to capture the inevitable violence and death that stalks all human existence.
