Strength of Plate Girders in Shear
Journal of the Structural Division, 1961A study of the shear strength of plate girders is presented. In utilizing the postbuckling strength offered by the transverse stiffening of girders, new design rules are proposed. The new approach is checked with ultimate load tests carried out at Fritz Engineering Laboratory.

Optimization of hybrid steel plate girders
Computers & Structures, 1987An efficient procedure is presented for minimum weight design of unstiffened and stiffened hybrid steel plate girders subjected to arbitrary loading using the general geometric programming technique. The nonlinear optimization problem is formulated on the basis of the current American Institute of Steel Construction specification.
