Archaeometry, EarlyView.ABSTRACT This study shows an innovative approach to determine the origin of some Calabrian rocks quarried used in ancient times. Twenty‐five quarries, distributed in all the Calabrian provinces (Southern Italy), were studied and sampled. Ten samples were taken from each quarry, for a total of 250 samples.

Dispersal, source and glass chemistry of a third tephra unit within Iceland's Settlement Layer
Boreas, EarlyView.Tephra layers may be studied to understand the dynamics and sequence of past explosive volcanism. In Iceland, the distinctive Settlement Layer (AD ~877) underlies almost all archaeological evidence for the Norse Settlement and is preserved in soils across Iceland and as cryptotephra overseas.

Journal of Anatomy, EarlyView.Early human cortical development is organized by transient cellular compartments that define cortical types before mature layers form. Analysis of the human fetal pallium (7.5–15 PCW) shows distinct spatiotemporal trajectories for the archicortex, mesocortex, and neocortex, with delayed but accelerated differentiation in allocortical regions.
