Authoring Terrestrial Planets with Diffusion Models
Abstract To support the design and subsequent generation of terrestrial planets for use in the creative media, we propose a solution that employs a generative model trained on satellite data from planetary bodies with a defined solid surface, such as the Earth and Mars.

Abstract Historical biogeography faces a persistent conceptual and methodological dilemma concerning the nature of its central analytical units. Using the recent proposal by Schultz and Cracraft (Cladistics 40, 653) as a catalyst, this article critiques the argument that causal inference necessitates the replacement of areas of endemism with barriers ...

Paleomagnetic evidence for Neoarchean plate mobilism
Plate tectonics is a unique feature of Earth, but its proposed time of initiation is still controversial, with published estimates ranging from ca. 4.2 to 0.7 Ga.

ABSTRACT The absence of jadeite in regions where subduction of continental crust has been documented by other high‐pressure (HP) or ultrahigh‐pressure (UHP) minerals is striking. This study presents only the second discovery of jadeite in the crystalline rocks of the Erzgebirge, a region known for its occurrences of microdiamond, coesite and omphacite ...

Tracking Dehydration Reactions and Fossil Fluid Flux in Shear Zones Using Garnet Microstructures
ABSTRACT Shear zones act as preferential fluid pathways during prograde and retrograde stages of metamorphism. Nonetheless, we still have limited knowledge of the drainage and permeability of natural settings. The preserved signature of fluid in exhumed rocks provides insights into fluid flow during burial and exhumation.

Fossil finds from three Middle Miocene sites in Poland reveal the northernmost known presence of trionychid turtles in Europe, tentatively identified as Trionyx cf. vindobonensis, suggesting a warmer climate that supported thermophilic species in Central Europe during this period. Abstract Modern trionychids (Testudines, Cryptodira) have a pan‐tropical

Tectonic plate motions are a prime constraint on lithosphere dynamics and on the torques acting upon plates. Researchers typically test hypotheses on the controlling torques via forward computer models, which allow accepting or rejecting hypotheses on ...

Geological Time Capsule Part III [PDF]
This is the third part of a three part brief history of the Earth. It covers the Cenozoic Era, which began sixty five million years ago and continues to the present.

Early human cortical development is organized by transient cellular compartments that define cortical types before mature layers form. Analysis of the human fetal pallium (7.5–15 PCW) shows distinct spatiotemporal trajectories for the archicortex, mesocortex, and neocortex, with delayed but accelerated differentiation in allocortical regions.

Hot spot abundance, ridge subduction and the evolution of greenstone belts [PDF]
A number of plate tectonic hypotheses have been proposed to explain the origin of Archaean and Phanerozoic greenstone/ophiolite terranes. In these models, ophiolites or greenstone belts represent the remnants of one or more of the following: island arcs,
