Varied Clinical Course in Plateau Iris Syndrome: A Case Series
Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2013To present a selected case series of plateau iris syndrome (PIS) that attempts to highlight the varied outcomes.Retrospective review of three selected cases of plateau iris.Case 1 with 23 years follow-up highlights the benign nature of the disease with no disc and field changes. Case 2 represents the progressive form of the disease. Case 3 demonstrates

Evaluation and management of plateau iris syndrome: Case report and review
Optometry - Journal of the American Optometric Association, 2005This article documents a case of plateau iris syndrome and provides a review of the current concepts regarding the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of this condition.A patient who had patent peripheral iridotomies O.D. and O.S. to treat previous episodes of acute angle closure came to clinic with unilaterally elevated intraocular pressures ...

Management of plateau iris syndrome with cataract extraction and endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation
Experimental Eye Research, 2017Plateau iris configuration describes an anatomic abnormality in which large or anteriorly positioned pars plicata push the iris root forward, thereby narrowing the anterior chamber angle. Plateau iris syndrome (PIS) is diagnosed if the angle remains occludable, either spontaneously or pharmacologically, after iridotomy.

Narrow iridocorneal angles, a very rare condition in the pediatric population, can lead to visual loss through angle closure glaucoma. In the workup for patients with narrow iridocorneal angles, plateau iris must be considered in the differential diagnosis. We describe 5 children with plateau iris, the youngest 5 years of age.

Journal of Glaucoma, 2006
The purpose of the study was to ascertain the prevalence of plateau iris syndrome in the first-degree relatives of those patients affected with plateau iris syndrome. All patients seen with plateau iris syndrome over a 5-year period were identified. These patients were approached for participation and first-degree family members above 18 years of age ...

Association of Retinopathy of Prematurity and Plateau iris
Journal of Glaucoma, 2019We present a case series describing a unique entity as it relates to plateau iris. There have been many established risk factors for plateau iris, but we present the following cases that describe patients with plateau iris in the setting of prematurity and/or retinopathy of prematurity as well as high myopia or emmetropia.

Ultrasound Biomicroscopy in Plateau Iris Syndrome
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1992Ultrasound biomicroscopy is a new technique that uses high-frequency ultrasound (50 to 100 MHz) to produce images of the entire anterior segment at high resolution (20 to 50 microns). The iridocorneal angle, iris, ciliary body, and posterior chamber can be imaged in detail and the dimensions and anatomic relationships of these structures determined ...

[Progress in the research of plateau iris].
[Zhonghua yan ke za zhi] Chinese journal of ophthalmology, 2022Primary angle closure glaucoma is the main type of glaucoma in Asia. Plateau iris is one of the important mechanisms of non-pupil block. After years of research, the concept of plateau iris has been gradually clarified, and its epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment have been gradually recognized.
