Top-down constraints on atmospheric mercury emissions and implications for global biogeochemical cycling [PDF]
We perform global-scale inverse modeling to constrain present-day atmospheric mercury emissions and relevant physiochemical parameters in the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model. We use Bayesian inversion methods combining simulations with GEOS-Chem and

Mathematical Analysis and Its Application to Kassa Basaltic Rocks of Jos Plateau State, Nigeria
Mathematically, the formation of rock forming minerals from magma, depends on the numerical values of each mineral under thermodynamic conditions. This research was focused on application of mathematical equations using Bowen’s and Goldschmidt concepts to calculate the numerical values of minerals in Kassa Basaltic rocks of Jos Plateau state, Nigeria ...

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

HESS Opinions: Towards a common vision for the future of hydrological observatories [PDF]
The Unsolved Problems in Hydrology (UPH) initiative has emphasized the need to establish networks of multi-decadal hydrological observatories to gain a deep understanding of the complex hydrologic processes occurring within diverse environmental ...

An unsaturated coordination chemistry strategy activates a quasi‐solid‐state redox pathway by strengthening NaPSs adsorption and accelerating redox conversion kinetics, thereby overcoming the kinetic bottlenecks that limit high‐rate performance. In situ transmission electron microscopy, combined with newly developed Na‐ion diffusion descriptors ...

Should we solve Plateau's problem again? [PDF]
After a short description of various classical solutions of Plateau's problem, we discuss other ways to model soap films, and some of the related questions that are left open.

This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

Asymmetric responses of primary productivity to altered precipitation simulated by ecosystem models across three long-term grassland sites [PDF]
Field measurements of aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) in temperate grasslands suggest that both positive and negative asymmetric responses to changes in precipitation (P) may occur.

A miniaturized deaminase SsdAtox was scanned with AlphaFold to identify DNA binding pocket hot spots. Site‐saturation mutagenesis at gatekeeper residue K31 yielded ten‐fold activity enhancement. Trinity Screen, an E. coli‐based three‐in‐one platform selecting for high activity and reduced double‐strand breaks, enabled combinatorial evolution at DNA ...
