Isolation and characterization of 13 microsatellite loci in the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)

Conservation Genetics, 2008
High quality jumping microsatellite libraries of the plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) were constructed; 231 out of the 288 clones contained microsatellite repeat motif and 120 pairs of primers were designed accordingly. Polymorphism was assessed for 48 individuals. Only 13 microsatellite loci were polymorphic with high polymorphism information content

Effects of quinestrol and levonorgestrel on populations of plateau pikas, Ochotona curzoniae , in the Qinghai‐Tibetan Plateau

Pest Management Science, 2012
Abstract BACKGROUND: Plateau pikas ( Ochotona curzoniae , Hodgson, 1858) are viewed as a pest in the Tibetan Plateau meadow ecosystem when their population densities are high.

Testosterone-retinoic acid signaling directs spermatogonial differentiation and seasonal spermatogenesis in the Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)

Theriogenology, 2019
During evolution, animals optimize their reproductive strategies to increase offspring survival. Seasonal breeders reproduce only during certain times of the year. In mammals, reproduction is tightly controlled by hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad axis.

[Hypoxic adaptation of the hearts of plateau zokor (Myospalax baileyi) and plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae)].

Sheng li xue bao : [Acta physiologica Sinica], 2015
Plateau zokor (Myospalax baileyi) and plateau pika (Ochotona curzniae) are native to the Qinghai-Tibet plateau. To study their adaptive mechanisms, the ratios of heart weight to body weight (HW/BW) and right to left ventricular plus septum weights [RV/(LV+S)] were determined; the microvessel density (MVD) of cardiac muscle were measured by ...

Elevational amplification of plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) burrowing impacts on ecological functions in alpine grasslands

Journal of Environmental Management
Plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) burrowing greatly influences ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) in alpine grasslands. However, the degree to which this activity would affect EMF in alpine grasslands lack general cognition. Here, we examined pika burrowing impacts on EMF across elevation gradients in alpine grasslands. The results furnished compelling
