Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), while holistic and historically esteemed, faces challenges in “miracle cures” due to slow onset, long cycles, and difficulty controlling quality. This study obtains the active ingredients, glabridin (GLA) and puerarin (PUE), from Ge‐Gen Decoction (GGD), developing a safe and effective drug delivery system, GLA‐PUE ...

A historical review of experimental imaging of the beating heart coronary microcirculation in vivo
Intravital imaging of the beating heart microcirculation in vivo has been challenging. The past 50 years has seen changes in ways to both stabilise and image the heart with a shift from learning about coronary vascular anatomy and physiology to the role of thromboinflammation and other microcirculatory disturbances in cardiovascular disease.

Influence of Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin on ex vivo Leak Pressure of Canine Enterotomy [PDF]
Injectable platelet rich fibrin, the latest innovation among platelet concentrates is obtained by centrifugation of whole blood without any anticoagulants. The initially liquid product is later converted into gel form due to conversion of fibrinogen into

Applications of platelet rich fibrin in dentistry
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), a second-generation platelet concentrate, comprises a fibrin matrix containing numerous growth factors. These growth factors are involved with the cells responsible for the processes of tissue repair, regeneration, and growth.

A multi‐functional shear‐thinning hydrogel is engineered to treat enterocutaneous fistulas. This hydrogel can resist external pressures allowing it to remain within the fistula tract and is shown to have significant antimicrobial, pro‐healing, and anti‐inflammatory properties, which were validated in in vitro and in vivo experiments.

Advancements in left ventricular assist devices to prevent pump thrombosis and blood coagulopathy
Left ventricular assist device (LVAD)‐related blood coagulopathy: Pump thrombosis is one of the most severe adverse events caused by LVADs. The contact of blood with artificial materials of LVAD pumps and cannulas triggers the coagulation cascade. Abstract Mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices, such as left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are

Role of Platelet Concentrates in Dental-Pulp Regeneration: A Systematic Review of Randomized Clinical Trials [PDF]
Statement of the Problem: Treatment of immature necrotic teeth is a problematic situation. Conventional root canal therapy is challenging and leaves a weak, fragile and undeveloped tooth for lifetime.Purpose: This review was aimed to assess the outcome ...

Occlusion of tumor blood vessels represents a promising yet challenging approach in cancer treatment. Herein, supramolecularly engineered platelets conjugated with morphology‐transformable nanoparticles is developed for precise tumor embolization. The engineered platelets actively accumulate at tumor sites following induced blood vessel injury.

Developing an unfolding-incorporated coarse-grained polymer model for fibrinogen to study the mechanical behaviour [PDF]
Fibrinogen is a protein found in blood that forms Fibrin polymer network to build a clot during wound healing process when there is a cut in the blood vessel. The fibrin fiber is highly stretchable and shows a complex mechanical properties. The fibrin monomer, Fibrinogen, has a very complex structure which is responsible for its unusual elastic ...

Porosity governs normals stresses in polymer gels [PDF]
When sheared, most elastic solids such as metals, rubbers and polymer hydrogels dilate in the direction perpendicular to the shear plane. This well-known behaviour known as the Poynting effect is characterized by a positive normal stress. Surprisingly, biopolymer gels made of fibrous proteins such as fibrin and collagen, as well as many biological ...
