Association of urinary neopterin, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte, lymphocyte-to-monocyte and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratios with long-term survival of patients with breast cancer

open access: yesPteridines, 2016
The immune response crucially determines the survival of patients with malignant tumors including breast carcinoma. The aim of the present study was to evaluate retrospectively an association of peripheral blood cell count (PBC)-derived ratios and ...

Relationship Between the Product of Pre‐Treatment Neutrophil and Monocyte Counts and Clinical Outcomes in Rectal Cancer With Suspected Lateral Lymph Node Metastasis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim A novel systemic inflammatory response marker, the neutrophil × monocyte value (NM value), has been identified as a negative predictive factor for responses to chemoradiotherapy in rectal cancer. However, the clinical implications of the NM value remain unknown.

Can Machine Learning Reduce Unnecessary Surgeries? A Retrospective Analysis Using Threshold Optimization to Prevent Negative Appendectomies in Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Threshold‐optimized machine learning models using routine clinical and laboratory data in 623 adults undergoing appendectomy. Logistic regression (AUC = 0.765) and random forest (AUC = 0.785) were the best‐performing models for appendicitis detection and complicated appendicitis prediction, respectively.

Assessment of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and mean platelet volume in patients with diabetic retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR) using the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and mean platelet volume (MPV) and to ...

Predicting the Efficacy of Adjuvant Chemotherapy Using Immuno‐Nutritional and Inflammatory Markers in Elderly Patients With Stage III Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine whether immuno‐nutritional and inflammatory markers could serve as predictors of the outcomes of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III colorectal cancer in elderly patients. Postoperative lymphocyte‐to‐monocyte ratio and postoperative C‐reactive protein‐to‐albumin ratio accurately predicted the efficacy of ...

Lymphocyte‐C‐Reactive Protein Ratio as Promising New Marker for Predicting Surgical Site Infection in Children With Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Surgical site infection (SSI) is a major complication after ileal pouch–anal anastomosis (IPAA) in pediatric ulcerative colitis (UC), significantly impairing quality of life. The lymphocyte‐to–C‐reactive protein ratio (LCR), a composite marker of systemic inflammation and immune/nutritional status, has emerged as a potential ...

Real‐World Evaluation of Talquetamab for the Treatment of Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma (RRMM): An International Myeloma Working Group Immunotherapy Registry Real‐World Analysis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Talquetamab is a GPRC5D × CD3 bispecific antibody approved for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). This is the first real‐world study to comprehensively report muco‐cutaneous toxicities, infections, and efficacy of talquetamab in 151 patients across five countries with the longest follow‐up reported enabling better efficacy and ...

Clinically Relevant Bleeding in Individuals With Cancer: Insights From a Nationwide Cohort Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cancer care is often complicated by coagulopathy leading to thrombosis and bleeding. While venous thromboembolism (VTE) has been extensively studied, bleeding remains an underestimated threat. To address this knowledge gap, we leveraged the Epic Cosmos database to determine the impact of cancer‐associated clinically relevant bleeding (CRB) in ...

Clinical and Laboratory Characterization of Acquired Von Willebrand Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acquired von Willebrand Syndrome (AVWS) is a rare bleeding disorder characterized by quantitative or qualitative defects of von Willebrand factor (VWF) in patients without a personal or family history of bleeding. It is frequently associated with systemic diseases, particularly lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs) and myeloproliferative ...

Complete blood count-based inflammatory ratios in people with bipolar disorder: a systematic review and meta-analysis of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte, monocyte-to-lymphocyte, and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratios

open access: yesEuropean Psychiatry
Background Bipolar disorder (BD) involves immune-inflammatory dysregulation. This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed complete blood count-based inflammatory indices – neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte (MLR), and platelet-to-
