Platelet Count and Platelet Stickiness in Rats
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1971SummaryIn rat, a transected tail vessel proved an adequate source of blood for platelet enumeration. When suspensions of rat blood in ammonium oxalate were rotated for 1 h a significant loss of platelets was observed. This platelet reduction rate (PRR), calculated as per cent of the pre-rotation count, showed individual constancy and inter-individual ...

Platelet counting using plasma platelet concentrate samples
Transfusion Medicine, 1992SUMMARY. Platelet counting using samples of plasma from platelet concentrates prepared for transfusion was assessed. The methods employed included a manual phase‐contrast method, and counting with Coulter S Plus and Sysmex E‐2500 counters. All methods were reproducible (mean CV of 4.9, 2.2 and 1.4%, respectively).

The Platelet Count and Mean Platelet Volume
British Journal of Haematology, 1981Summary. The Coulter Model S‐Plus Counter provides a measure of the platelet count and the mean platelet volume (MPV). An analysis of 5000 unselected blood specimens showed an inverse relationship between the number of circulating platelets and their MPV.
